Tooth extractions are always our last resort option. When possible, Dr. Andrus will try to save your tooth with alternative treatments, such as a root canal and a dental crown for an infected tooth.

Basic extractions are usually recommended for damaged and infected teeth. In this procedure, Dr. Andrus will clean and numb your mouth, then pull your tooth out with a special pair of dental forceps. The process is very simple, and takes only a few minutes per tooth.
The wisdom teeth grow into the mouth between the ages of 17-25. This is a lot later than the other teeth. And if you don’t have room in your mouth for your wisdom teeth, they can cause serious oral health issues like pain, changes in how your teeth fit together, and more. Wisdom tooth extractions may be recommended in this case.
We offer both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation. We know that tooth extractions can be intimidating, so our goal is to keep you feeling safe and comfortable during the entire process.
First, Dr. Andrus will clean and numb the treatment area. We also offer sedation options to keep you feeling comfortable during the tooth extraction process.
Next, Dr. Andrus will loosen your tooth in the socket using a “dental elevator.” Once the tooth is loose, he will use a pair of dental forceps to grab the tooth and pull it out of the socket.
After your tooth is pulled, Dr. Andrus will clean the area and suture your tooth socket shut to promote healing and reduce the risk of infection. Then, he will repeat the extraction process if you’re having multiple teeth pulled.
You’ll be sent home to heal. It only takes a day or two to get back to your normal routine, but it can take up to two weeks to fully recover. Make sure to follow Dr. Andrus’s instructions, and come back as scheduled for any follow-ups.
